The coast of the Kingdom of Granada

Salobreña

Today: Salobreña, Spain

Years
1489–1833

Salobreña passed to Castile in 1489 with Francisco Ramírez de Madrid, whom the Catholic Monarchs made governor of its castle; after a rising for Boabdil in 1490 the town was kept for Castilians and the Muslims were pushed out to the surrounding hamlets. The castle kept its military importance until the 18th century, with major rebuilding.
