Beneath the square, over the Roman forum, the episcopal complex of Visigothic Valentia was excavated. The baptistery of the mid 6th century survives directly below the present one, and so does the horseshoe apse raised in the 7th century over the rubble of the so-called prison of Saint Vincent, the only remnant of that building. The museum also shows a double Visigothic burial with its grave goods: a gold ring, three belt buckles and pieces of pottery and glass.
