It is thought to have been built between 680 and 711, in the years before the conquest, which makes it one of the last works of this art. The vaults of the east end and the side chambers keep their original stonework, and the arches are horseshoe in the Visigothic manner. It stood on the banks of the Esla and was moved stone by stone to El Campillo between 1930 and 1932, to save it from the Ricobayo reservoir.
