Between the 6th and the 7th century, as eremitic life gave way to communal life, the two vaulted compartments to the right of the entrance were raised; their walls and several Visigothic arches survive. Almost everything else is later: the porch and the nave of the church are Mozarabic, consecrated in 954, and the arches before the caves are of the 11th and 12th centuries.
