Of the original church only the sanctuary and the transept survive. Its dating is disputed: the article places it in the 7th century and also at the end of the 7th or the start of the 8th, and in 1927 a Mozarabic origin was proposed for it. The outer ashlars are reused Roman work, and a semicircular apse was added in the 10th century. Above the chancel arch is an inscription naming Flammola.
