Santa María de Ibahernando

Today: Ibahernando, Spain

Years
635–711

A basilica consecrated to Saint Mary in 635, on the dehesa of Magasquilla de los Donaire, a little over a kilometre from the village. We know it from its own dedicatory inscription, found in 1962 and now in the Museo de Cáceres, which names bishop Oroncius and gives the year. It was excavated in 1973, and the footings of a nave seven and a half metres by three and twenty survive, with burials inside and out.
