Beneath the 13th century church, excavation from 1990 opened the underground precinct a visitor sees today: Roman houses of the 1st to 3rd centuries, the Christian cemetery of the 4th with the funerary mound of Saint Eulalia and, over and around it, the Visigothic basilica raised from the 5th century on. Part of that basilica's upper front still closes the apse of the high altar, and some columns and capitals of the Visigothic church were reused above.
