The crown of the hill is ringed by an ashlar wall with towers and three known gates, and about the 6th century a second ring was added enclosing much of the slopes. That outer circuit was raised because of the Byzantine presence in the southeast. It has been dug since 1983; what was found is shown in the Museo Arqueológico de Cehegín, and the altar of Jupiter in that of Murcia.
