Visigothic kingdom
Barcino
Today: Barcelona, Spain
- Years
- 507–711
- Role
- Bishopric of Tarraconensis
The small walled colony between the Besós and the Llobregat stayed inhabited after the end of the empire and was a bishopric, and for a time a seat of the Visigothic kings before Toledo was. What survives of those centuries lies under the plaça del Rei: the remains of the first cathedral, its baptistery and a church of the 6th century.
