Bishop Pimenius consecrated it on 6 December 630, according to the Roman pedestal that gives the date and the list of martyrs whose relics were laid here, over a Roman villa that the patrician Lepero gave for a church. It is one of the three early Christian basilicas of the southwest, with San Ambrosio. What stands is of several periods: the Roman tower, Roman and Visigothic columns in its three naves, brick arches and a Mudéjar timber roof.
