206 BCE–409

The Phoenician colony of Ex or Seks, which minted its own coin, passed to Rome at the end of the Second Punic War and was remade as a municipium of Latin right under the name Sexi Firmum Iulium. From that rebuilding come the temples, the theatre and the aqueduct that supplied the town, several stretches of which survive among the tropical orchards of the valley.
