Roman Hispania

Pollentia

Today: Alcúdia, Spain

Years
123 BCE–409

The classical authors have it founded by the consul Quintus Caecilius Metellus during the Roman conquest of the Balearics, between 123 and 121 BCE, on the isthmus between the bays of Alcúdia and Pollença. It is the best known Roman city of the islands, with its forum, its theatre and the house quarter of La Portella.
