The forum temple of Liberalitas Iulia, built in the 1st century BCE and altered in the 2nd and 3rd. It is called the temple of Diana after a legend a Portuguese priest invented in the 17th century: no archaeological evidence ties it to that goddess, and it was most likely raised in honour of Augustus, worshipped as a god. It was destroyed in the invasions of the 5th century, and it is the emblem of Roman Portugal.
