What remains
Standing

An eight-sided fortification with a redoubt at the entrance and, facing the sea, a hornwork of two half-bastions. A first castle stood here in 1513; the present one was built under Carlos III, as part of a new system of castles, fortified houses and batteries, and by about 1846 it belonged to the customs guard. It was a prison and concentration camp until 1939, then a Guardia Civil post, and it is a catering school today.
