A coastal battery of Carlos III by the engineer José Crame, begun around 1769: a moat and drawbridge, infantry and cavalry quarters, a chapel and a semicircular platform for four 24-pounder guns. The British destroyed it in the Peninsular War to keep it from the French, and it was rebuilt in 1817. Restored, it houses an exhibition of Napoleonic-era dress and arms.
