A bastioned stronghold that Carlos III had built in 1766 against English and Dutch ships, when watchtowers were no match for their guns. It is a square two-storey building with stabling for 14 horses, a guardroom and an officer's room, inside a wall with two sentry turrets and a moat. Restored in 1992, it is a cultural and exhibition centre.
