A fortified palace that al-Muqtadir had built in the second half of the 11th century as the residence of the Hūdid kings of Saraqusṭa, the Qaṣr al-Surūr or palace of joy. It shows the splendour of the taifa of Zaragoza at its height. Today it houses the Aragonese parliament and is open to visitors.
