The fortified western gate of Carmona, Carthaginian in origin and reworked by the Romans, set inside a small alcázar. In the 11th and 12th centuries the Almohads gave it horseshoe arches, and the Salón de los Presos dates from then, though it was altered in the 14th and 15th centuries.
