Qarmūna قرمونة

Today: Carmona, Spain

Years
713–1247

A strongly walled town on the road from Córdoba to Seville, Qarmūna was a taifa capital in the 11th century and later a key Almohad stronghold. Fernando III took it in 1247; its gates and Alcázar keep their Andalusi bones.
