Qalʿat Rabāḥ was a fortress town on the Guadiana, founded in the 8th century and the main stronghold of the middle Guadiana; taken in 1147, it gave its name to the Order of Calatrava (1158), returned to the Almohads in 1195 and was lost for good after Las Navas in 1212.
