One of the oldest gates of Granada, the main entrance to the Zīrid citadel of the Albaicín, built in the 11th century when the capital moved from Madīnat Ilbīra to Granada and altered by the Naṣrids. The tower and the gate survive, with two horseshoe arches framed by alfiz and a brick vault between them, which led to a guard court and a bent entrance. It was restored in 1998 and 1999 but is somewhat neglected.
