The madrasa that Yūsuf I built between 1340 and 1349 beside the Great Mosque, the first public madrasa of al-Andalus, teaching law, medicine and mathematics. Today's building is not the original, but it keeps the 14th-century Naṣrid oratory; the upper hall, with its 16th-century Mudéjar ceiling, is Christian. It belongs to the University of Granada.
