An octagonal Almohad albarrana tower beside the alcazaba, built around 1169 or 1170 while Abu Yaqub Yusuf was enlarging the fortress, half a century before the Torre del Oro. It rises twenty metres to its terrace, and the Mudéjar lantern on top was added in the 16th century.
