Visigothic kingdom

San Pedro de la Mata

Today: Casalgordo (Sonseca), Spain

Years
651–711

A church of the second half of the 7th century in the open country of the montes de Toledo, which a fragment of inscription found nearby appears to date to the reign of Wamba. The rooms set either side of the apse suggest a monastic building, and excavation has found a triple east end like that of San Juan de Baños. It stands in ruins and its condition is fragile.
