A small municipium of the Sierra Norte that lived on copper and iron, with mining recorded from the 1st century BCE in what later became the baths, the forum and the houses. Vespasian granted it the rank of municipium, and to that rise belong the terraced sanctuary and the other public buildings. An earthquake at the end of the 3rd century began its decline, and the German Archaeological Institute has been digging here since 1956.
