Livy names it first in the campaign of Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus through Celtiberia, in 179 BCE, when the town opened its gates to the Romans. From the 2nd century BCE it took a Roman plan inside its wall, and with Augustus came the forum, the basilica and the temples, and the rank of municipium its coins record. It declined from the 3rd century and was abandoned between the 4th and the 5th.
