The Greek colony founded in 575 BCE where the legions landed in 218 BCE, the event Roman Hispania begins with. Around 100 BCE a Roman city was laid out afresh to the west and lived on equal terms with the old Phocaean colony, until under Augustus the Greeks were granted Roman citizenship and the two cores merged. The site has three parts: the Palaiapolis, the Neapolis and the Roman city.
