Talabriga, the town of the Vettones in the valley of the Tagus, was taken in 181 BCE by Quintus Fulvius Flaccus after hard resistance. As Caesarobriga it was first a stipendiary town and reached the rank of municipium under the Flavians, and came to head a conventus. Villas grew up around it, the largest of them Saucedo.
