Roman Hispania

Baetulo

Today: Badalona, Spain

Years
100 BCE–409

Founded from scratch about the year 100 BCE on a low rise between two streams, with ten hectares inside its wall and good land around it. The classical sources call it a parvus oppidum and an oppidum of Roman citizens, and archaeology records its life without a break into the 6th century. Its remains have been turning up under the old centre of Badalona since the 18th century.
