The only Roman religious building left whole in Mérida, of the 1st century, in the municipal forum beside the crossing of the cardo and the decumanus. Despite its name it was dedicated to the imperial cult, not to Diana. It is peripteral, with a porch of six columns at the front and eleven along the long sides, on a podium 3.23 metres high; the plan measures 32 by 18.5 metres and the columns stand eight.
