800 BCE–206 BCE

The colony that the Greek sources gathered by Strabo place among the first Phoenician contacts with the peoples of the peninsula. The town stood on the headland where the castle of San Miguel is today, on a chronology beginning in the first half of the 8th century BCE, and had three cemeteries around it. It struck bronze coin with Punic lettering from the end of the 3rd century BCE, with the head of Melqart and tunny, as Gadir did.
