The city's first walled circuit, raised in the eighteen years of Punic rule to close the Barcid capital, and one of the few pieces of Punic fortification left in Spain. It held Scipio's assault for only a short time in 209 BCE. It is under cover and in good condition: a visitor walks it inside its interpretation centre, on the slope of the Cerro de San José.
