A Phoenician city founded in the 9th century BCE on an island at the mouth of the Guadalhorce, older than Malaka itself and abandoned perhaps about 584 BCE. The clearing of the woods around it, for farmland and to feed the pottery and metal kilns and the shipyards, brought on the floods that ruined it. It lies on flat ground by the river, west of the city.
