- The one Punic town nobody rebuilt
A town on the eastern coast of Cap Bon, founded about the 6th century BCE and destroyed in the First Punic War, in the middle of the 3rd. The Romans never rebuilt it, and that is why it is the one example of Punic architecture untouched by later civilisations: what a visitor sees is the town as it stood in the 3rd century BCE. It lived for close to four hundred years and was, with Carthage, Hadrumetum and Utica, among the greatest of the Punic world.
