A castle of Naṣrid origin at the top of Zahara de la Sierra, on the frontier: in 1282 it hosted the meeting between Alfonso X and the Marinid sultan Abū Yūsuf. Castile took it in 1407, the Naṣrids won it back in 1481 and lost it in 1483. Naṣrid and Christian stretches of wall remain, with an Arab cistern beneath them and the tower, which can be climbed.
