A ruined castle facing Alcaucín, on the Naṣrid royal road from Granada to the coast over the Zafarraya pass: the Arabs built the present castle with its double ring of walls, and the pottery found runs from the 10th to the 15th century. Castile took it in September 1485. Square and half-round towers, the two gate towers of the inner enclosure and the cistern remain.
