What remains
Standing

An Arab village-fortress of the 13th century on a crag of the Los Alcornocales natural park, a few kilometres from the Strait. The old village, Castellar Viejo, still lies inside its walls, with zigzag lanes; its people moved to the new town in 1971, and a park information point stands at the entrance.
